Joanne Stanway is expert in public relations program design, media relations, collateral and Web site content development,
press and client event planning, writing, and corporate video production. Her unique blend of creativity with a no-nonsense
approach to marketing are the result of a diverse career in communications that saw her transition from broadcast journalist
to strategic public relations counselor.
Since 2002, Joanne has had the opportunity to apply this background in the increasingly vital arenas of environment and sustainability.
She has devised PR activities for environmental technologies and to promote social issues and causes. In this regard, she
manages all public relations for the Boston Natural Areas Network, which works to preserve and protect urban green space;
handles project assignments for the world’s oldest regional land trust, The Trustees of Reservations; and successfully
conducted media relations for the environmental engineering firm of Woodard & Curran on issues ranging from wastewater treatment
and contract operations to handling and remediation of biomedical waste.
Joanne's previous experience included positions with several leading regional and national PR agencies around New England.
In these roles, she worked with clients across a variety of industries, becoming proficient at adapting communication principles
distinct to one sector and applying them in an innovative way to others. Her skills span technology development and manufacturing;
professional services; Web technologies and communities; and consumer goods. She also served on staff at Women & Infants Hospital
of Rhode Island where a month-long work stoppage tested and proved her crisis communication expertise.
Joanne began her career at the CBS network affiliate in Providence, RI. In this setting, she established a strong track record
in electronic news gathering that has proven to be an invaluable resource in developing the right kind of stories and overall
awareness for her clients.
Joanne graduated from Boston University's College of Communications with a degree in broadcast journalism, and serves as a
mentor to both high school and college students interested in a career in communications.
